NATIONAL SERVICE OFFICER NEEDED:

AMVETS has immediate opening for a National Service Officer (NSO).  If you’re planning on transitioning from military life to civilian; AMVETS is here to help. 

 

Duties include assisting active duty, veterans, retirees, and widows with their claims for VA benefits.  The NSO reviews VA rating decisions to ensure that the veteran is correctly rated and files any appeal for the veteran as warranted. You are the veteran’s advocate.

 

Work involves handling sensitive cases and exercising considerable independent judgment, discretion and initiative in completing claims.  Employee must exercise considerable tact, courtesy and discretion in frequent contact with program clients and applicants and must safeguard the confidentiality of department and client information.  You must be computer literate. 

 

We provide pre and post-deployment briefings for National Guard and Reserve units in support of Homeland defense and deploying units.

Accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs, AMVETS National Service Officers are trained in all aspects of veterans’ benefits, keeping abreast of changes in VA regulations, policies, procedures and entitlements.  Salary is based on experience, excellent benefits offered.
